Preregister for Your Birth
Early planning and pre-registering for your hospital admission will promote a smooth transition when it's time to deliver your baby. We recommend pre-registering with the hospital during your fourth month of pregnancy. Each time you visit Labor and Delivery, you will need to check in at the registration desk and sign consents. However, the process of checking in will be quicker. You may register in person or online. Click here for online registration.
Please understand there may be times and situations in which visitation is limited; such as during periods of high flu activity or other illnesses. Further, these decisions may be made upon recommendation by health officials for the purposes of controlling the spread of illness to patients, visitors and hospital caregivers. If you are experiencing any symptoms of illness, for the safety of all, please reschedule your visit for another time.
Childbirth Education and Breastfeeding
Babies don't come with instruction manuals, and that's where we come in! Through our childbirth education and Lactation Center, we try to make having a baby, caring for that baby and breastfeeding as smooth as possible. Due to COVID-19 classes may be held virtually. Watch our online class schedule for options or reach out to Childbirth Education for more information (469) 698-1301.
Childbirth Education Classes
Childbirth classes are offered as a one day, weekend class. We cover topics such as nutrition in pregnancy and breastfeeding, the different stages of labor and birth and what to expect during those stages, pain management techniques and the birthing process. We also cover caring for your infant at home, signs of labor, what to expect in labor and birth, preparing for your newborn, a hospital tour, breastfeeding basics and much more!
Breastfeeding Resources Center
The breastfeeding resources center, which provides support and education for nursing mothers, also includes an on-site store for the rental and purchase of Medela breast pump equipment.
Our board-certified lactation consultants are available on a daily basis and provide new moms additional education and assistance with breastfeeding on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. The consultants also work alongside new parents to assist them in gaining confidence with breastfeeding.
Breastfeeding classes are a great way to learn basic hints and guidelines but also tools and support moms need to face challenges they might encounter. For more details on Breastfeeding Classes visit our Classes & events page or click here to register for a class.
