Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Rockwall was recently named by the Leapfrog Group as a repeat recipient of their highest grade for safe, quality care.  The “A” Safety Grade was awarded to Texas Health Rockwall based on publically reported criteria directly related to the provision of care.

The hospital, celebrating their 10 year anniversary in December 2017, has been awarded an “A” every grading period since 2012.  The hospital shows its commitment to safety around the clock, beginning every meeting with a “safety moment” and beginning each day with a Reliability Safety Briefing.  The morning briefing includes representatives from each department, clinical and non-clinical, who address any concern that has the potential to arise.  This allows the hospital team to think proactively with the goal of preventing an issue from occurring.

Tami Hawkins, Vice-President of Patient Care/Chief Nursing Officer, states “Consistently receiving an A grade is evidence of the importance Texas Health Rockwall places on patient safety.  This priority on safety is something that every person here understands and takes pride in.  While we spend a great deal of time selecting and training the best people, we also know that the desire to perform a job this well includes something we can’t instill – it takes a heart for caring enough to do what is right, every time.  I believe we have the team that does just that!”

Being graded twice a year on twenty-seven different performance measures means the data used to determine a safety grade is comprehensive and relevant.  Anyone can review the safety grades for their community to help them make educated decisions regarding their medical care.
