Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Rockwall has, once again, earned an "A" grade for patient safety, according to the latest Hospital Safety Scores from The Leapfrog Group. The organization, a national watchdog on the quality and safety of hospital care, used publicly available quality and safety measures, as well as leadership commitment to creating a safe environment for patients to come up with the letter grade.

Nationally, only about a third of the 2,522 hospitals scored were ranked "A."

"Texas Health Rockwall has a proven record of providing the highest level of safe and quality care for our patients." says Joanna Hailey, Vice President of Quality and Risk. "Continuing this commitment requires regular evaluation of our processes and outcomes. This in turn provides strategies, including enhanced technology, to support safe and effective health care."

Calculated under the guidance of The Leapfrog Group's eight-member Blue Ribbon Expert Panel, the Hospital Safety Score uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to produce a single score representing a hospital's overall capacity to keep patients safe from infections, injuries, and medical and medication errors. Individual hospital scores can be viewed at the Hospital Safety Score website at www.hospitalsafetyscore.org.
