Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Rockwall announced that Sound Physicians Inc. has contracted to provide hospitalist services for the Rockwall facility. The transition in care became effective on Tuesday, April 11.
Hospitalists are licensed physicians experienced in providing and managing care for patients who are admitted to the hospital. Focused on caring for inpatients gives hospitalists enhanced experience in treating the kinds of medical conditions commonly associated with hospitalization. Gary Bonacquisti, MD, Chief Medical Officer, and Rockwall family practitioner summed up the importance of the hospitalist role saying, “The hospitalist is critical to the patient’s healing as well as understanding of their medical condition. Their role helps facilitate the continuity of care with the primary care physician or specialist upon discharge.”
Sound Physicians has a reputation of bringing consistent quality and financial responsibility to the inpatient setting. “We are pleased to have Sound Physicians as a partner in caring for our community,” stated Cindy Paris, hospital president. “Their infrastructure is important with the changing world of healthcare but that is exceeded by their commitment to safe, quality patient care. Truly our philosophies are well matched.”
Sound Physicians’ Gulf Region Chief Medical Officer Greg Johnson, MD, added, “We are excited to partner with Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Rockwall. We are a trusted partner to more than 30 hospitals in Texas and are deeply committed to improving quality and reducing the cost of care in that region.”
